Harvick all but secures Busch title

Kevin Harvick has all but secured the 2006 Busch Series title, after winning Saturday's race at Kansas Speedway - his seventh series win this season

Harvick, who won the Busch title in 2001, beat Matt Kenseth to the finish after a shoot-out between the duo in the final laps.

Kenseth previously dominated the race, starting from pole position and leading 145 of the 200-lap race, but a late pitstop took away his advantage and allowed Harvick to take over and win the race.

Harvick is now merely 31 points away from the title, with five Busch rounds to go. He holds a 729-point lead over Carl Edwards in the standings.

Harvick's 24th Busch career win is also the sixth consecutive victory for Richard Childress Racing, and Kenseth believes the driver and team are untouchable.

"Kevin has been killing the Busch Series and is a contender to win every week," he said. "The Childress Busch cars have been the class of the field all year.

"Guys coming and doing one-off races, partial schedules or full-time schedules - I don't think anybody can run with the Childress cars this year on a consistent basis."

Harvick now has his eyes set on the Double: winning Sunday's Nextel Cup race at Kansas.

"We don't like to worry about things too far in advance, but it would be an incredible accomplishment if we could pull it off," he said.
