Hamlin fastest in Busch qualifying

Denny Hamlin took pole position for today's USG Durock 300 Busch Series race at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway oval, claiming his fourth pole in eleven starts this season

Hamlin, who was among the early runners during the session, set a fastest lap of 30.083 seconds in his No. 20 Joe Gibbs Chevrolet, running at an average speed of 179.503 mph to claim his tenth Busch Series career pole.

Points leader Carl Edwards ran towards the end of the session and put his No. 60 Roush Fenway Ford second in the grid, ending 0.111 seconds behind the pole time.

Completing another strong qualifying session for Joe Gibbs Racing, Aric Almirola put the No. 18 Chevrolet third on the grid. He was fastest among the non-Nextel Cup drivers who will take part in today's race.

Kasey Kahne was fourth and the fastest Dodge qualifier, while Dave Blaney rounded up the top five as the fastest Toyota.

The Hendrick cars of Kyle Busch and last year's winner Casey Mears will follow them off the line from sixth and seventh, ahead of 2005 event-winner Kevin Harvick, who drives the No. 21 RCR Chevrolet for the second week in a row.

David Ragan and Justin Ashburn both crashed while completing their runs and while the former will be able to start the race from the back of the field based on his car-owner points status, the latter will not be racing today. Chris Horn also failed to qualify.
