GEM extend Sadler's contract
Gillett Evernham Motorsports have signed a multi-year contract extension with Elliott Sadler, the team announced on Thursday
Sadler is currently in his tenth season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, and his third driving for Ray Evernham. He is now set to continue with the team into 2009 and beyond.
"Elliott is a well respected driver who has the skills, both on and off the track, to succeed in NASCAR," said GEM's CEO Tom Reddin. "In addition to being a great Sprint Cup driver, Elliott has a wonderful personality that attracts fans and sponsors who love working with him.
"We have enjoyed working with Elliott over the last year and a half and look forward to continuing our relationship."
Although he has yet to win a race for his current employer, Sadler feels he is still building on a strong relationship that will eventually see him and his crew get the kind of results they've been seeking since 2006.
"This is the place where I want to race," said the 33-year-old Virginian. "I think what we are building here is special and something other drivers and crew members envy."
Sadler made the first ever Chase for the Sprint Cup in 2004 while driving for Yates Racing, in a year that saw him win two races and finish ninth in the championship.
His best result so far in the 2008 season has been sixth place at Daytona, and he ranks 25th in the points at present.
