Fittipaldi delays Busch Series return
Champ Car ace Christian Fittpaldi has been forced to cancel his return to the NASCAR Busch Series this weekend because of testing commitments with his CART team
The Brazilian, who made his Busch debut last year at Homestead, was due to race at the Bristol oval this weekend, but Newman-Haas decided to schedule a last-minute test at the Sebring road course for Thursday and Friday.
With Champ Cars still the priority for Fittipaldi, he had no choice but to cancel the Bristol race. He now aims to compete in the evening race at Richmond on May 3.
"I am disappointed that Bristol did not work out," said the former grand prix driver. "I was really looking forward to racing there. We will get everything ready for Richmond, and I am excited about racing under the lights there at night. I've raced at night in many parts of the world, in many different types of cars, and I really enjoy it."
Fittipaldi would like to compete in as many races as he can this year in the Busch Series, NASCAR's secondary division. On his debut at Homestead last December he crashed out in a clash with Hank Parker Jr.
