Daytona 500 grid set

The grid for the 48th running of the Daytona 500 has been set, following today's Gatorade Duel races

The 35 drivers already guaranteed a starting spot through last season owner's points now know where they will be starting as a result of their finishing position in the two races, with Elliott Sadler and Kyle Busch starting on the second row.

Several other drivers now know for sure they will be starting Sunday's prestigious race, including Robby Gordon, who famously missed the cut last year by one position in his Duel. Gordon starts 20th. Mike Wallace, Bill Elliott and Kevin Lepage also raced their way into the field today.

Travis Kvapil, Hermie Sadler and Kirk Shelmerdine also qualified at the back of the field, thanks to their qualifying times set last Sunday. Terry Labonte starts last, having to use his Champion's provisional, earned with his 1996 title.

Jeff Burton starts on pole for Sunday's race, which begins at 1.30pm local time (Eastern).
