Busch wins Atlanta Busch pole

Kyle Busch will start from pole position today in the Busch Series Nicorette 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, repeating his qualifying result from the same race one year ago

Busch set a fastest lap of 29.014 seconds with a speed of 191.080 mph driving his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet. He was nearly two tenths of second faster than Kasey Kahne who will line up beside him in the front row.

The qualifying session was dominated by Nextel Cup drivers who took all but one of the top ten spots of the grid.

IndyCar champion and Indy 500 winner Sam Hornish Jr was the only non-Cup driver in the top ten, ending an impressive fifth fastest in the No. 12 Penske Dodge.

Hornish will make his third Busch series start of the season behind points leader Carl Edwards and Joe Gibb's driver Tony Stewart, who takes over Denny Hamlin's N0. 20 car for this weekend.

California winner Matt Kenseth was sixth, ahead of David Stremme, Las Vegas winner Jeff Burton and Hendrick's Casey Mears.

Juan Pablo Montoya was the last driver in the qualifying order and he repeated his practice performance to take tenth on the grid although six tenths of a second behind Kyle Busch.

David Reutimann was the fastest Toyota as in Nextel Cup qualifying yesterday. He will line up 15th sharing the eighth row of the grid with the other Toyota of Dave Blaney.

Michael Waltrip, who failed to qualify for the Nextel Cup race, was able to get a place on the grid for the Busch event and will start from 23rd in the No. 32 Camping World Toyota.
