Burton takes first win in four years

Jeff Burton broke a four-year winless streak at Atlanta on Saturday, winning the NASCAR Busch Nicorette 300

Burton last won any NASCAR race in October 2002, when he took victory in the Busch series as well. His last Cup victory was a year before, at Phoenix in October 2001.

The Daytona 500 pole-sitter took his 21st Busch win in dominant fashion, passing Matt Kenseth with twently laps to go and crossing the line ahead of Kasey Kahne by 1.42 seconds.

"It's a pleasure to finally get something done," Burton said after the race. "You question yourself. You question everything. But I'm proud of myself. I stayed focused through all of it."

The race was marred however with recurring tyre blows, with half of the caution periods spurred by a blown tyre incident.

According to a spokespam for tyre company Goodyear, the tyre blowouts were caused by excessive wear. Runner-up Kahne confirmed: "I tried waiting for a while and let my tyres stay cool for a little bit and let Jeff and Matt get out front and race.

"Then I caught up and, by the time I got there, I wore my tyres out."

Winner Burton and runner-up Kahne were followed by Cup regulars Greg Biffle, Kenseth and J.J. Yeley.
