Busch to 'move on' from altercation

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver has spoken for the first time about what happened between him and leading team owner Childress after a Truck Series race at Kansas, where he battled hard for fifth place with RCR's Joey Coulter in the closing laps.

"There was an altercation in the garage area - in the Truck garage area - on my way out to my motorhome," Busch confirmed. "Fortunately, NASCAR is taking the situation seriously and is looking into it, and making their decisions based what facts they can discover."

Busch added: "I met with NASCAR [on Sunday morning]. Just discussed with them the incident to my best recollection and from there they will take all their discoveries and all their findings and make the best decision they feel possible."

NASCAR president Mike Helton said on Sunday morning at Kansas that action will be taken against Childress, while no action was deemed necessary against Busch, who did not provoke the altercation in the officials' opinion.

Busch said he backs whatever NASCAR decides to be a fair punishment for Childress.

"Whatever they feel best to protect their sport and to protect what we have going on here is to their best discretion," said Busch. "I'm all for whatever they decide to do.

"All I can say is I did hear what Helton said and I follow by what they said. I don't know that I did anything out of the ordinary that would provoke something of Mr Childress.

"Mr Helton gave a good description of events and what they saw happen and what further penalties might be."

Busch added: "I'm going to leave it up to NASCAR and let them decide what they feel is best."

On Monday NASCAR is expected to announce penalties for Childress, while Busch remains on probation for unrelated on-track incidents until June 15.
