Yeley replaced by Coleman at HOF

Sprint Cup driver JJ Yeley has been released by Hall of Fame Racing and will be replaced by Brad Coleman for the season's second visit to Michigan International Speedway

Yeley was in his first year with the team after moving from Joe Gibbs Racing, where he raced the No.18 car now driven by points leader Kyle Busch. He drove that entry for his first two full seasons after making a number of starts in the No.11 car between 2004 and 2005.

"JJ is a talented driver and a great person and this was a difficult decision to make," said Tom Garfinkel, co-owner of Hall of Fame Racing. "We all share responsibility that our performance hasn't been what it needs to be, but we concluded it was time to make a change.

"This is a performance-based industry and we need to perform better. We're confident J.J. will be successful in this sport in whatever his next challenge is."

The Arizona native failed to qualify four times in the first 21 races, and besides a third place finish at the rain-shortened race at Loudon, his best results were 24th places at Dover and Chicago. His entry is currently outside the top-35 in the owners' standing.

Coleman, another Joe Gibbs Racing Development driver, will take over his ride from next week's race at Michigan and, aged 20, will become the youngest driver to enter the event, although he will have to qualify on time.

He currently races full time in the Nationwide Series for Baker Curb Racing and competed last year in JGR's No.18 car in 17 events with a best result of second at Kentucky, also scoring his maiden pole position at Talladega.

"I have really enjoyed my time testing with the people on the team and I'm looking forward to having a successful weekend at Michigan in the DLP HDTV Toyota and helping Hall of Fame Racing finish the season as strong as possible," Coleman said. "It is truly an honor to be a part of this organization."

Road-course specialist PJ Jones will drive the No.96 Toyota at Watkins Glen this weekend, before Coleman takes over the drive next week.
