Logano wants JGR Sprint Cup drive

NASCAR teenage sensation Joey Logano says he wouldn't hesitate at taking over Tony Stewart's drive in the Sprint Cup series next season if he was offered that opportunity

Speaking at Gateway International Raceway, where he is returning to the Nationwide Series after sitting out the last three races, Logano said he doesn't know yet what he will do next year and that it's up to his bosses to decide whether he moves up to the Sprint Cup full-time next year.

"Nothing's really changed, it's pretty much the same deal," Logano said. "If it's offered to me I'd take it. It's something that has been talked about but I'm not in a position to say anything and I don't know what I'm going to do yet.

"I'm focused on the No.20 car, the Nationwide car, and from there it's going to be a Joe, JD (Gibbs) deal."

The 18-year-old, who dominated the first Nationwide practice session at Gateway on Friday, said it would be great to drive JGR's No.20 car in the Sprint Cup Series in 2009, but he doesn't want to take his focus away from racing for the rest of the year at the wheel of the winningest car in the Nationwide series this season.

"It's a great team, a great car, a car that has won two championships with Tony (Stewart) driving it but the whole team has been together for so long and to be driving any car for Joe Gibbs Racing right now would be great," said Logano.

"So I'm just trying to make the most out of my opportunity now. The only thing I've got set in stone right now is this Nationwide car, so I'll make the best of it."
