Villeneuve to race at Montreal

Jacques Villeneuve is set to return to NASCAR next month to compete in the Nationwide Series race at Montreal

The Canadian has inked a deal to get another chance to keep his stock car racing career going and he is set to drive the No. 32 Braun Racing Toyota at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in the NAPA Auto Parts 200.

Villeneuve will drive one of the entries that has won in the Nationwide Series this year. Kyle Busch has piloted the No. 32 car in seven races this season, claiming his fourth series' victory of 2009 with it at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

The car has actually been raced by five different drivers with good results, including Busch's JGR teammate Denny Hamlin, who raced it to a second place finish last weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.

"I'm really happy because it's a pleasure to race, but it's even more so to do it at Montreal," Villeneuve told Le Journal De Montreal.

"It could hardly be better to come to a race as important as this and with a good team that makes you confident. It's an honor to be given the chance to race a car that was driven this year by such great drivers as Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin."

Villeneuve's participation at Montreal will be his Nationwide series debut and his first NASCAR outing of the season after he failed to qualify for the Daytona 500 in February, before he had to quit on his Sprint Cup campaign due to lack of sponsorship.

Last year he qualified for two Cup events at Talladega and Phoenix and competed in seven Craftsman Truck Series races, all of them driving Toyota's for Bill Davis Racing.

The 1997 Formula One world champion will unveil his sponsors today at his Newtown restaurant in Montreal.
