Little change to 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule

NASCAR released its 2013 Sprint Cup series schedule which features little change relative to this year

As usual the season will start with the Daytona events, beginning with the non-points Shootout on February 16, the first event where the new Chevrolet SS, Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry will run in a competitive event.

The 55th running of the Daytona 500 will open the regular season on February 24, finishing 27 weeks later at Richmond on September 7, where the Chase field will be set.

The play-off will then kick off at Chicagoland for the third consecutive year, finishing at Homestead on November 17.

The only change relative to this year comes in the autumn dates for Kansas and Talladega, which have basically swapped dates back after a change took place this season due to the resurfacing of Kansas Speedway.

"The new NASCAR Sprint Cup cars for next season have dominated fan conversation for more than a year, and the time is approaching to unleash them on the race track," said NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France.

"Next year's schedule again will offer a strong mix of challenges for our talented drivers, and we believe fans will continue to enjoy what they've come to expect - the most exciting and competitive racing in the world."

The 2013 Sprint Cup season will be the 65th in the series' history.
