Mihai Marinescu again sets the pace in second F2 practice at Silverstone
Mihai Marinescu once again set the pace in the second Formula 2 practice session at Silverstone on Friday afternoon, but left it until late in the day to take the top spot
It was series rookie Markus Pommer, the pace-setter at the recent Silverstone pre-season test, who hit the front midway through the session, but Alex Fontana usurped him within a few minutes.
Morning pace-setter Marinescu, third at the time, then usurped both with a 1m47.388s lap with just seconds remaining on the clock, putting him 0.244s clear of Fontana.
Behind Pommer were Luciano Bacheta, the surprisingly swift Parthiva Sureshwaren and Kourosh Khani.
Dino Zamparelli, Kevin Mirocha, Hector Hurst and Plamen Kralev completed the top 10.
Expected front runner Christopher Zanella did not take part in the session in a bid to save a set of tyres for later in the weekend.
