Drayson to step up to LMP1

Drayson Racing will step up to the LMP1 class of the American Le Mans Series from Petit Le Mans next month

The British team campaigned a GT2 Aston Martin Vantage in the ALMS last year and has competed in the LMS this season, as well as entering the Sebring 12 Hours in March.

It will introduce a Judd-powered Lola B09/60 in Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, with regular drivers Paul Drayson and Jonathan Cocker being joined by double LMS GT2 champion Rob Bell.

The trio will also contest the ALMS finale at Laguna Seca in October and the Asian Le Mans Series event at Okayama on November 1.

"LMP1 is the premier class of world sports car racing," said Drayson. "I'm really looking forward to the race next month. It is going to be a challenge- but an exhilarating one."

The team will shakedown the car in Britain in the coming weeks before it is shipped to the United States for Petit Le Mans.

Drayson Racing will continuie to run its GT2 Aston Martin in the final two LMS races of the year at the Nurburgring this weekend and in the AUTOSPORT 1000km at Silverstone next month.
