Algarve Superstars: Gianni Morbidelli claims fourth straight win
Gianni Morbidelli extended his Superstars winning streak to four races with a race two victory at Algarve
Starting the race in eighth place, the Audi Sport Italia driver took his time coming through the field, spending a large chunk of the race bottled up behind Thomas Biagi's Romeo Ferraris Mercedes and Francesco Sini's Solaris Chevrolet.
But he was eventually able to break free, and, along with Biagi, joined a four-car fight for the lead, which also included early leader Luigi Ferrara in a Roma Mercedes, and Biagi's team-mate Tonio Liuzzi.
With five minutes left in the race, Morbidelli made his move, charging past Liuzzi to take a lead that he would hold until the finish.
Liuzzi finished second, while Ferrara and Biagi battled right up to the flag, finishing third and fourth respectively after an almighty scrap.
Giovanni Berton was fifth, leading home his Dinamic BMW team-mates Max Mugelli and Mauro Trentin.
Fabrizio Giovanardi's weekend came to a disappointing end, his Petri Corse Porsche suffering its second engine failure in as many races.
