Sidelined Hofmann hits out at Guintoli
Alex Hofmann has launched a scathing attack towards Sylvain Guintoli, two days after the crash that sidelined the German at the United States MotoGP
Tech 3 Yamaha rider Guintoli crashed into the left hand side of Hofmann's Pramac D'Antin Ducati at the top of Laguna Seca's Corkscrew during Friday's first practice session, sending the pair crashing to the ground.
Hofmann, who was left with a broken bone in his left hand that will see him recovering for the next five weeks, had strong words for his rival when he visited the track today.
"Sylvain should know better," Hofmann was quoted as saying by the official MotoGP website.
"He is a MotoGP rider and has to know that a move like the one he did in practice is unacceptable. Maybe you'd do it in the race, but in practice you should be turning your brain on and not off.
"I'm only lucky that I didn't put my hand in the gravel, because then it would have been a lot worse."
Briton Chaz Davies, who normally races in the AMA Supersport 600 series, was called up to replace Hofmann, but the German isn't thrilled about some of the comments he has heard.
"Another thing that I am annoyed about is people saying that Chaz Davies has received a good chance," continued Hofmann.
"This isn't a good opportunity, which for me would be giving the kid a three-day test; he is a replacement rider, so it's not this great chance like people say. This is nothing personal about Chaz."
