Pedrosa philosophical as Honda struggle

Dani Pedrosa says he is pretty resigned about the situation he finds himself in this season after another disappointing outing at Donington Park on Sunday saw him lose further ground in the title chase

The Repsol Honda rider was forced to swap bikes before the start of the British Grand Prix after suffering a clutch problem on his race machine. The new bike was not fully set up for the wet and he steadily lost ground during the 30-lap encounter.

With that result leaving him 59 points adrift of points leader Casey Stoner, Pedrosa says he cannot do much to turn things around at the moment.

"Right now this is what we have," he told Spanish newspaper AS. "You don't see (Valentino) Rossi winning with the same ease as before either. I don't know if it's a combination of everything or just the tyres."

When asked about his championship ambitions, Pedrosa said: "You never know, but it's looking really difficult."

The Spaniard insists, however, his focus is on getting himself and Honda back to the front, despite speculation about his future emerging after he revealed he has not yet renewed his deal for next year.

"You can't close any doors, but at the moment we have to focus on this year," he said. "You can't shut your eyes and think that there's only one option available."
