Marc Marquez admits he would prefer less dominant MotoGP wins

Reigning champion Marquez is unbeaten so far in 2014. While his Qatar and Argentina wins both involved a lot of close racing, he dominated at Austin and Jerez.

Throughout the Jerez weekend Marquez had insisted that he expected a close challenge from Honda team-mate Dani Pedrosa and Yamaha duo Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi.

He said he had put a greater effort into dominating last Sunday's race because he feared he would be caught if he did not take a stranglehold on the event early on.

"I'd like more races like Argentina or Qatar, but when you have some doubts you try to push to open a gap then try to manage that advantage," he said.

"I expected a race like Argentina in the beginning with Dani and Rossi.

"I was a little bit worried for the end of the race with Dani because in FP4 he was so strong with used tyres, [so] I tried to push in the beginning to open that gap."

The Jerez triumph means Marquez has now won at every circuit on the MotoGP calendar at some point in his career, and continues his 100 per cent victory rate in 2014.

"Some day a race will arrive where it will stop," Marquez insisted.

"It is important to understand it when that happens and to take points for the championship and finish on the podium when you can't win."
