Meanwhile, Fernandez has clawed his way back inside the top 10. Diggia, who also lost places on the opening lap, is up to eighth
Marquez dropped another place to Aldeguer, but somehow managed to repass both him and Acosta to retake fourth. What a fighting performance from the reigning champion
Acosta finally makes a move on Marquez, who is now coming under pressure from Aldeguer
Acosta goes through on Marquez at the final corner, but Marquez uses Ducati's straightline advantage to retake fourth.
A quick shoutout to Morbidelli, who remains Honda's top runner in 10th. The next-best RC213V is Mir in 14th.
Bagnaia is doing well to hold on to the lead. While he hasn't checked out at the front, he isn't allowing Bezzecchi to close the gap either
Acosta is now putting pressure on his future team-mate Marquez for fourth place
Fernandez has recovered some of the lost ground and is up to P12. Replays show him running completely off the track at Turn 1 at the start of the race.
Here is the order at the front
- Bagnaia
- Bezzecchi
- Martin
- Marquez
- Acosta
- Aldeguer
- Ogura
- Bastianini
- Morbidelli
- Di Giannantonio
Lead change
Bagnaia gets a great slipstream coming out of the final corner and he blasts past Bezzecchi to take the lead!
One of the biggest early movers is Acosta, who is up to fifth and ahead of Aldeguer's Ducati
Lap 2/23
Martin tries to overtake Bezzecchi 1 but runs deep into Turn 1, allowing Bagnaia to shoot past him into second
Fernandez is down in 17th place after running wide at the first braking point. Di Giannantonio is also down to 11th after a poor opening lap
And Bezzecchi immediately fires back to retake the lead. It's Bezzecchi leading from Martin, with Bagnaia and Marquez right behind them on the factory Ducatis
A great launch from Bezzecchi but he runs slightly wide into Turn 1, allowing Martin to snatch the lead.
Fernandez has slumped down the order
And the Italian Grand Prix is go!
We can confirm all riders are on medium tyres
Yesterday, Marco Bezzecchi got his braking wrong at Turn 1 and slipped down the order - declaring his race was already over at that moment. Can he make amends for that error this time around?
And the formation lap is underway!
The grid is being cleared and the warm-up lap is about to begin
178,723 - the total number of spectators who visited Mugello this weekend, setting a new record.
It's important to remember that Ducati has won seven out of the last Italian GPs. Only Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo was able to halt Ducati's success in 2021 en route to the riders' championship.
It's time for the Italian national anthem
Italian GP marks Marc Marquez's return to MotoGP after his recent injuries. While still not being fully fit, Marquez impressed on Saturday to qualify as the top Ducati in fourth. After briefly taking the lead in the sprint, he finished fifth.
Looks like the entire field has opted for the medium rear. But we will have to wait for some time before being certain about the tyre choices.

Starting grid
Here is the full starting grid for the Italian GP. Honda's Luca Marini will line up 19th on the grid - and not 16th - after being hit with a three-place grid penalty for running slowly on the racing line in FP2.

Mercedes F1 driver Kimi Antonelli is in attendance at Mugello. The F1 points leader is close to the VR46 Academy, including fellow Italian Marco Bezzecchi.
The pitlane is now open at Mugello and riders are heading out on track
Earlier over the weekend, Aprilia called a meeting between its four riders to ensure they race cleanly against each other. Incidentally, Raul Fernandez and Jorge Martin finished first and second in the Mugello sprint, just weeks after they collided in the Catalan GP.
It's been quite an interesting weekend so far at Mugello. While Ducati had the upper hand over the opposition in Friday practice, Aprilia struck back on Saturday, locking the front row for the first time in MotoGP before claiming a 1-2 finish in the sprint
