Kallio forced to miss Laguna race
Mika Kallio will miss this weekend's Laguna Seca MotoGP race as a result of the hand injury that he picked up in the Dutch GP
The Pramac Racing rider badly hurt the ring finger of his left hand, grazing it down to the bone after it got trapped under his bike in a last lap fall, and he will need skin grafts in the next few weeks.
The risk of infection has forced the Finn out of competing in the United States, but it is hoped he will be fit again to return to the bike at Sachsenring.
"I was so excited to race in Laguna Seca, but I guess destiny wanted it to be this way and I will have to renounce," explained Kallio. "It's a pity.
"We have taken this decision together with Pramac Racing Managers and I think this is probably the best solution. Laguna would have been a new circuit to learn for me and with a precarious physical condition we thought it would have been too risky.
"I will look after my self in the best way possible to be in good form at the Sachsenring, which is by the way one of my favourites circuits of the world championship."
Pramac has decided to not substitute Kallio for this weekend's race, so it will race only with Niccolo Canepa.
