Dovizioso confident of strong debut
Andrea Dovizioso is confident he can challenge at the front from the outset of his debut season in the MotoGP's top class, after showing well in pre-season testing
The 21-year-old Italian, who won the 125cc title in 2004, was fourth quickest in the night test in Qatar last week and is hoping to repeat the form in the night race that open's the championship on Qatar's Losail circuit this weekend.
"I think our tests have shown real value on track and I think we can look forward to being up there and battling with the top riders this weekend," said the Honda RC212V rider.
"I didn't expect to find myself with such a good feeling with the bike and to be able to achieve the results I have in the tests. If I look to those results, I'm very confident about this weekend."
Dovizioso's JiR Team Scot manager Cirano Mularoni isn't concerned by Dovizioso's rookie status and believes he can be competitive straight away.
"Andrea and his team are rookies in MotoGP but they've demonstrated their ability to fight for the 250cc championship," he said. "We can go into the night race knowing that our package is competitive."
