De Angelis tops Mugello warm-up
Honda Gresini's Alex de Angelis was the surprise pace setter in the warm-up at Mugello ahead of this afternoon's Italian MotoGP
The San Marino rider, who will start the race from the tenth spot on the grid, snatched the fastest lap of the morning from home favourite Valentino Rossi in the last minute of the 20-minute session.
De Angelis's time of 1:49.633 beat Rossi's time by 0.380, while the latter's Fiat Yamaha - who will start from pole position - was also bettered in the end by second-on-the-grid Dani Pedrosa's Repsol Honda with a 1:49.825 lap.
Ducati Marlboro's Casey Stoner, fourth in qualifying yesterday, maintained his position today with a lap just 0.017 slower than Rossi.
Loris Capirossi's Rizla Suzuki was fifth fastest, ahead of Shinya Nakano's Honda Gresini and Nicky Hayden's factory Honda.
The two Tech 3 Yamahas of Colin Edwards and James Toseland took eighth and ninth spot respectively, followed by Chris Vermeulen's Suzuki and Jorge Lorenzo's works Yamaha.
