De Puniet hopes injury won't hinder him

Randy de Puniet does not expect the fractured right elbow he sustained in a first-lap crash at Misano four weeks ago to hinder his riding at Motegi this weekend

The Frenchman carried the injury through the Indianapolis weekend but says it did not affect his riding in wet conditions. He believes that the injury has now had time to heal, but won't know for sure until first practice tomorrow.

"I didn't know (it was broken) before Indianapolis," he said. "I had a check when I came back to Europe and the cubitus is broken. Normally it would need one month's rest, but I rode at Indy. In the wet it was not a problem but in the dry it was a little more difficult.

"We'll see tomorrow on the bike how the arm will be. I think if it is bad, we can do something to have less pain. But I'll try and we'll see after, I rode in the past with some injuries and I think to race is not a problem."

De Puniet finished 13th in the shortened wet race at Indianapolis two weeks ago.
