Jorge Lorenzo needs to adapt style after Sachsenring MotoGP crashes

Jorge Lorenzo admits he needs to be "more conscious" on his MotoGP Yamaha after crashing three times in the first two days of the German Grand Prix

The reigning world champion's weekend started with a high-speed crash at Sachsenring's Turn 11 on Friday morning and he finished the day in 16th place.

Lorenzo became more competitive on Saturday, but was still forced to tackle the first phase of qualifying, advancing despite crashing at Turn 8, before falling at Turn 1 on his way to 11th in the main session.

"The three crashes have been different, quite a bit different from each other," Lorenzo said.

"It is difficult to save the bike when the front goes [since the switch to Michelin for 2016] so you have to be careful in some areas of the track and some conditions.

"We need to adapt till Michelin make another step on the grip in the front tyre.

"Until this happens I need to be more conscious about everything to not crash more."

A "disappointed" Lorenzo said he was more concerned about having closed the gap to the front of the field after getting lost with set-up in Friday's cool conditions.

"I wouldn't say I was unlucky because I had the same tyres as everyone and I was the one who lost more, so that means something's wrong," he said.

"I shouldn't enter too much on the kerb [in the first crash] because I was used to entering on the kerb with the Bridgestone, but with the Michelin is not possible.

"And the second one I didn't enter braking so deep, but maybe in the previous lap I didn't warm up enough the right side of the tyre.

"I was completely straight, not braking very strong, but I just lost the front.

"So three mistakes from my part is not normal that I make so many mistakes, but this weekend happens like this.

"So I'm disappointed about the crashes, I'm disappointed about the position, but finally I could see some big improvement from the bike.

"We tried a different kind of setting and finally we have gone back to our normal standard setting from this year and we improved so much."
