Argentina MotoGP: Marc Marquez stays on top in third practice

The reigning champion, who set the pace on Friday, was the last of the top 10 riders to improve upon his earlier practice best and set a time of 1m39.171s in the final few minutes of the session.

Several riders took turns to go second quickest, but a decent late run by Dani Pedrosa was enough to bring him within 0.159 seconds of his team-mate to make it the second successive Honda one-two in practice.

Valentino Rossi edged Aleix Espargaro for third - the Forward rider taking the Open class honours once again - as both finished within half a second of Marquez.

Andrea Dovizioso produced a late 1m39.771s to comfortably enter the top five, ahead of Stefan Bradl and Jorge Lorenzo, who set the early pace when everyone embarked upon their long runs.

Despite suffering a mid-session fall, Pol Espargaro managed to sneak into the top 10 and gained automatic entry into Q2 - at the expense of Tech 3 team-mate Bradley Smith.
