Misano MotoGP: Jonathan Rea concerned by loss of Friday practice running

Casey Stoner's substitute Jonathan Rea admitted that the poor weather in Friday practice for MotoGP's Misano event was a disaster for him

The majority of leading riders stayed in the garages all day as constant low temperatures, strong winds and rain showers meant the track was rarely either dry enough for slicks or sufficiently damp for full wets.

With better weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday, the factory teams largely sat the day out, and Danilo Petrucci and Karel Abraham emerged as unlikely pacesetters.

Rea completed a handful of laps on the Honda in the afternoon and said he was relieved he was not going into his debut MotoGP weekend with no testing at all.

"I can't change the situation," Rea told the official MotoGP website.

"I've been lucky enough to have done one and a half days at Aragon.

"To come here and try to adapt to a different circuit with all the GP riders around and only do three complete laps is terrible.

"I can't help the conditions, nobody can help this. It's been unfortunate.

"We can wake up tomorrow and pray for one constant condition or the other."

Rea added: "We need some kind of feeling and I just hope it's dry, because I do feel like I'm behind the eight ball quite a bit."

Despite being concerned by his lack of running, Rea said he still enjoyed his first official day as a factory Honda MotoGP rider.

"It's been a pointless exercise today but I felt good in my Repsol leathers and it's a good experience being out there," he said.
