125cc: Di Meglio maintains pole in dry
Championship leader Mike di Meglio maintained pole position in today's second qualifying session for the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island
Di Meglio went to the top of the times early in the session, setting a time of 1:37.888. At the one-third mark of the session he lowered it to 1:37.553, a time he nor anyone else was able to match or beat.
The only rider who was able to get close to him was Bradley Smith, who set a time just under a quarter of a second slower than di Meglio's after the chequered flag fell, Smith recovering after falling halfway through the session.
Just behind Smith were Stefan Bradl and Nicolas Terol, who looked set for a front row start throughout the session, but never quite looked like challenging for pole.
A late lap bumped Andrea Iannone up to fifth, ahead of Sandro Cortese who fell in the closing minutes, with Raffaele de Rosa, Simone Corsi and Gabor Talmacsi all within a second of the pole position time.
