125cc: Talmacsi wins and takes points lead

Gabor Talmacsi took a dominant victory in the 125cc German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring to take the lead in the world championship from fellow Aprilia rider Hector Faubel

The Hungarian had a fine start from pole position and immediately started opening a gap, making sure his lead was never under threat. He ultimately won by 3.5 seconds.

Mattia Pasini started the race from second on the grid, but a bad getaway saw him fall down the order by the first corner, where he was hit from behind by another rider whose identity was bit of a mistery.

The official computer first indicated said rider - who also collected Pol Espargaro - to be Dino Lombardi, but the Italian wasn't even racing. It then changed to Patrick Unger, but later on in the race Raffaele de Rosa went back to the pits and apologised to Pasini for having hit him.

The main battle was for second place, with Faubel, Simone Corsi and Tomoyoshi Koyama fighting it out. The latter started the race from 15th spot and gradually made up places, to finally finish in second place with his KTM. Faubel took third place, with Corsi fourth.

Another battle was for fifth place, with Randy Krummenacher managing to take that position on the last corner of the last lap when rival Sergio Gadea fell off his Aprilia.

Lukas Pesek finished sixth, ahead of Sandro Cortese. Bradley Smith classified eighth, followed by Pablo Nieto and Michael Ranseder rounding up the top ten.

Andrea Iannone made a jump start from 12th on the grid and was penalised with a ride-through on the fifth lap, when he was ninth. The Italian ultimately finished in 24th place.
