125cc: Talmacsi takes provisional pole

World champion Gabor Talmacsi showed his class around Brno as he dominated the first qualifying session for the 125cc Czech Grand Prix

Seemingly on provisional pole from the moment he left the pits, the Hungarian's 2:10.2 was good enough to see off allcomers. Nevertheless he went out again in the dying minutes of the session and became the only rider to run a lap under 130 seconds with a time of 2:09.870.

A light drizzle midway through the session sent the riders pitbound, but as is customary for the 125s, there was a late flurry of activity.

Spaniard Nicolas Terol, on the Jack & Jones Aprilia, snuck into second as he passed the chequered flag, taking the position from a consistently fast Andrea Iannone.

British rider Bradley Smith was fourth fastest, having lost time in the final sector of his best lap, which was still good enough to better that of championship leader Mike di Meglio.

Sandro Cortese ended the day sixth fastest ahead of Pol Espargaro and Simone Corsi.

Sergio Gadea and Joan Olive completed the top ten.
