125cc: Iannone claims maiden win
Italian youngster Andrea Iannone has taken his maiden victory in the 125cc class, winning the Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai on a wet track
Iannone took the lead early on lap one, swapping the lead several times with last year's champion Gabor Talmacsi during the first half of the race.
On lap eleven Iannone retook the lead from Talmacsi at turn one, and followed it up with a fastest lap on the following lap.
From there Iannone, whose best result previously was ninth place, was never challenged
Mike di Meglio took second place after passing Talmacsi on lap 13, holding off a last-lap charge by Talmacsi to retake the place.
Pol Espargaro was the only rider able to keep up with the podium finishers before losing ground in the closing laps, still finishing in a comfortable fourth.
Stefan Bradl was fifth, clear of Joan Olive who finished just ahead of Michael Ranseder, Nicolas Terol and Raffaele de Rosa, de Rosa and Ranseder among several riders recovering from falls earlier in the race.
Not all the riders who fell got back up however, with Bradley Smith crashing out of third on lap seven, while contact between Olive and Simone Corsi at the hairpin saw championship leader Corsi out of the race with damage to his bike on lap five.
