Moto2: Kallio inherits last-lap Jerez win
KTM's Mika Kallio inherited an unexpected victory on the last lap of the 250cc Spanish Grand Prix
Kallio, who led only the first lap of the race at Jerez, started the last lap eight seconds behind race leaders Alvaro Bautista on Aprilia and Marco Simoncelli on Gilera, and over four seconds ahead of the fighting pair of Mattia Pasini's Aprilia and Yuki Takahashi's Honda.
But the two up front, who exchanged positions four times on lap 19 and then twice more in the 26-lap race, crashed off the road when Simoncelli made what looked like an optimistic move over Bautista on the last lap while fighting for the lead.
As the two got back up while still in the gravel, they were seen hugging each other.
Behind a pleasantly-surprised Kallio, Pasini managed to snatch second over Takahashi on the finish line and extend his lead in the championship.
KTM's Hiroshi Aoyama took fourth ahead of the Aprilias of Hector Barbera and Alex Debon.
Julian Simon's KTM finished seventh, followed by Roberto Locatelli's Gilera and the Aprilias of Aleix Espargaro and Lukas Pesek.
Hector Faubel crashed his Aprilia out of the race on lap three.
