Moto2: Bautista snatches pole from Kallio

Home favourite Alvaro Bautista snatched pole position from Mika Kallio ahead of the 250cc Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez

The Spanish Aprilia rider beat the Finn on KTM thanks to a best lap of 1:43.071, which was 0.040 seconds faster than Kallio's, whose best time was however set yesterday and was good enough for provisional pole.

Third spot went to Alex Debon, who crashed his Aprilia right at the end of the session and had to be helped by track workers to get back on his feet.

Aprilia's Thomas Luthi qualified fourth, ahead of the KTMs of Julian Simon and Hiroshi Aoyama.

Hector Barbera was seventh fastest with his Aprilia, followed by the Gileras of Roberto Locatelli and Marco Simoncelli.

Qatar GP winner Mattia Pasini could do no better than tenth with his Aprilia.
