Moto2: Barbera quickest at Jerez
Hector Barbera outpaced reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo during the first day of this week's official 250cc MotoGP test at Jerez in Spain on Monday
Barbera set his quickest time right at the end of the day to edge out his former factory Aprilia teammate by just less than one tenth of a second, with 2006 championship runner-up Andrea Dovizioso third quickest.
Behind fourth fastest Alex de Angelis and Thomas Luthi, Julian Simon had a nightmare day after crashing at Turn Four.
Simon was trapped underneath his bike in the incident and suffered a dislocated shoulder.
The Repsol Honda driver will be flown to Spain on Tuesday for a medical examination and is unlikely to return to action in time for the season opener at Qatar next month.
