Sebastian Saavedra in control in Barber Indy Lights race

The Colombian, who returned to the series this year after a season in IndyCar, started from pole and never looked threatened.

During the mid-point of the race the Andretti racer's lead had stretched to over 2.5 seconds over the pursuing Tristan Vautier, but a couple of late caution periods bunched the field up and reduced his final victory margin to 0.6s.

Vautier held on for second ahead of his Sam Schmidt Motorsports team-mate Esteban Guerrieri, but like last week in St Petersburg, the reigning champion team's other cars endured a mixed weekend.

Victor Carbone, starting from the rear of the grid after going off in qualifying, put in the drive of the day to cross the line in fifth, just behind Team Moore Racing's Gustavo Yacaman. On the other hand it was a tough day for Oli Webb, who had already relinquished several positions when he made contact with Bryan Herta Autosport's Troy Castaneda.

Webb was forced to return to the pits for a new nose and was eventually classified last of the cars still running, while Castaneda triggered the first spell under yellows a short time later when he crashed at Turn 5.

The other yellow flag was brought out by Andretti's Carlos Munoz, who was running in fourth place when he hit the barriers with three laps remaining.
