Mid-Ohio Indy Lights: Jack Harvey dominates for first win in USA

Jack Harvey dominated the opening race of this weekend's Indy Lights double-header at Mid-Ohio to claim his first career win in the USA

The Brit started from pole and was in command throughout, lapping as much as a second faster than anyone else in the field on his way to a final victory margin of 17.3s.

"The car felt perfect," Harvey said. "I was just a passenger today. My car was consistently faster than anybody else's, I was able to do consistently good times, and honestly I was amazed when they came on the radio and said, 'you're pulling away by this much a lap'."

Championship leader Gabby Chaves made up two places from fourth early on to get himself into second place for Belardi, although he never had an answer for Schmidt driver Harvey's pace. Luiz Razia completed the podium.

Zach Veach capitalised on a late mechanical glitch on Matthew Brabham's car to finish fourth, although he goes into Sunday's race with his grip on second in the championship having been considerably loosened. There are just six points between him and Harvey.

Brabham recovered from his problem to hold on to fifth ahead of Axcil Jeffries.
