Yasukawa secures drive for Motegi
Roger Yasukawa is to make a one-off return to the Dreyer & Reinbold team at the IndyCar Series race at Motegi later this year
The 31-year-old American of Japanese descent raced for D&R in 2005 and again in the 2007 Indianapolis 500. He has not had a full-time IndyCar drive for the past three seasons, and last year made just two appearances with Beck Motorsports - retiring at Motegi then failing to qualify for Indy.
"I am very excited that I will be racing again at the Indy Japan this year," Yasukawa said. "I ended my Indy 500 last year with results that I did not expect, but I feel confident about this year racing with a solid team.
"I started talking with Dreyer and Reinbold Racing right after the Indy 500 last year and finally came to an agreement. The team has geared up their engineering staff this year, and I am very confident that we are going to be competitive in the race."
Dreyer & Reinbold have so far only announced one driver for the full 2009 season, with British rookie Mike Conway joining the team for his American racing debut.
