Tagliani says real work starts now

Alex Tagliani says the Fazzt team's work is only just beginning, despite his star performance in qualifying for the Indianapolis 500

The fledgling squad has been the sensation of the Indy build-up, with Tagliani among the frontrunners throughout practice and qualifying fifth - having been fastest for much of the initial Pole Day session.

The Canadian is the only driver outside the Penske and Ganassi group to get on the front two rows.

He is optimistic that Fazzt can stay among the leaders in the race, but said there was still a lot of work to do and it would not rest on its laurels.

"Now the work starts," said Tagliani. "You have a long race, a lot of things happen. You each have a consistent car. I think there's more unpredictable things that could happen in the race.

"I think for us, looking at it about this week, it's amazing. No glitch, no mistakes. A little bit more intensity in the garage. The guys are under pressure a lot pushing back and forth, back and forth.

"The way they are conducting themselves, it's actually amazing for being our first effort here at Indy together.

"We have some more work to do on the car and hopefully we'll be able to battle with [Penske and Ganassi] again."

But he said whatever happened in the race, he would always be proud of what Fazzt had achieved so far this month.

"For us, just to have the opportunity to battle with Ganassi and Penske, it's quite an honour," said Tagliani. "I'm proud of the team, what they've been doing this week."
