Scheckter tries Ganassi-Toyota
Tomas Scheckter, winner of the IRL round at Michigan earlier this season, tested for Chip Ganassi Racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway yesterday (Thursday)
The South African has been out of action since splitting with Team Cheever midway through the season, so was delighted to get a chance to try the car and the new Toyota engine, which will make its debut next season.
"It's been going well," he said. "I'm just getting used to everybody on the team and seeing how they work, and they're seeing how I'm working. Really, we're just trying to put some miles on the Toyota engine."
Scheckter has yet to announce his plans for next season, but would consider a drive at Ganassi if the opportunity was there.
"At the moment, we're just testing," he said. "We're sort of seeing each other, we're seeing if I like them, if they like me. So far I've been very impressed. We're just working with Toyota and doing a little bit of development, and hopefully something will come of it in the future."
