Scheckter joins D&R for Milwaukee

Tomas Scheckter is to drive Dreyer & Reinbold Racing's second car in this weekend's Milwaukee IndyCar Series race

The South African had returned to the championship at the Indianapolis 500 in a one-off appearance with Dale Coyne Racing, but will now drive the #23 D&R car alongside Mike Conway, who is in the #24 entry for the full season.

"We are excited to have Tomas join our team," team co-owner Dennis Reinbold said. "We have talked to him on a number of occasions about doing something together and this opportunity came up to pair him with Mike for the weekend. We feel like we are going into Milwaukee very strong as a team."

Scheckter added: "I've been talking to Dennis and [director of competition] Larry Curry, who I have had a relationship with, for a while and we have been in and out of here a couple of times. For us to put this together is great and I'm really looking forward to it. It will be good working with some people that I have worked with before."

Dreyer & Reinbold is rotating its second car between a number of drivers this year, having used Darren Manning for the season-opening street races, before Milka Duno returned for a part-season based on oval events. Roger Yasukawa has already secured a deal to drive the car at Motegi in September.
