Marco Andretti set to join AGR
Michael Andretti is set to sign his son Marco to his championship-winning Andretti Green Racing team to replace Dan Wheldon
According to speedtv.com, Marco will join Tony Kanaan, Dario Franchitti and Bryan Herta in the four-car squad, and Michael himself will come out of retirement to run in May's Indy 500.
Michael quit the sport after the 2003 Indy 500, but would run in a fifth car to aid Marco's progress.
The team had thought to have offered a deal to Cristiano da Matta to leave Champ Car, however the seat is now likely to go to 18 year-old Marco, who has little racing experience.
However, Marco has already proved to be a race winner. AGR ran Marco in the IRL's feeder formula, the Infiniti Pro-Series this season, where he won three out of the six races he entered, including at the supporting event to the US GP on Indianapolis's road course.
Marco will likely drive the ARCA-Ex liveried car that Franchitti drove this season, because of his age means he cannot replace Wheldon in the Jim Beam whisky-branded machine.
