Green: Appeal decision on Monday
Team owner Barry Green has yet to decide whether he will appeal against the Indy Racing League's decision to allow Helio Castroneves' victory stand in the Indianapolis 500. Green thinks his driver Paul Tracy was the rightful victor because he believes the Canadian completed a pass on Castroneves an instant before the caution light lit, but his protest was denied by IRL Vice-President of Racing, Brian Barnhart.
Green has until 17:00 on Monday to lodge an appeal at the IRL's office in Indianapolis and he said Saturday at the Milwaukee Mile that he expects to do so.
"My team is in the hunt to win the CART championship, and that's where my focus is this weekend," Green commented. "I'm not going to talk about Indy with Paul Tracy, but I am going to discuss it with my partners, KOOL, Klein Tools and 7-11. That will not happen until Monday. That's what I have told the IRL and nothing has changed.
"I still believe our story," Green added. "There is no new evidence, but I would just say we have a better understanding of what we have. We have until 5pm on Monday to decide, though I see no reason why we wouldn't go ahead with the appeal."
