Dixon focused on Indy 500 win
Reigning IRL IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon has said that his focus for the first part of this season will be on winning the Indianapolis 500
The Ganassi Racing driver has denied that he feels any more pressure heading into the season as the title holder, and reckons the best way to keep his title is to win as many races as possible.
"I think we set the same goals this year as we did for last year and that's to try and win the championship again, and obviously the big one now is the Indianapolis 500," said Dixon, who led 15 laps of last year's event, before crashing out in the closing stages.
Asked which was his major goal, Dixon added: "I think short term it's definitely Indianapolis. I think for the first part of the season that's going to be our main goal for myself and probably for the team."
Dixon denied he was feeling any extra pressure heading into the season as the reigning champion.
"I think you always have a certain amount of pressure just to perform and make sure you do well, but I wouldn't say there's any more this year to defend [the title].
"I think we just want to go out there and do the same thing, and do what everybody is going to try to do - and that's to try and win races. I think that the easiest way to win a championship is to win races, so I don't think there will be any added pressure or less pressure."
