Dixon commits to Ganassi
Indy Racing League defending champion Scott Dixon has made a new commitment Target Chip Ganassi Racing, the New Zealander has signed a multi-year extension to his current contract with the squad which runs him in the US-based oval racing series.
"I'm very happy to continue to drive with Ganassi for the next few years," said Dixon. "They've always proven that they were committed to winning and we did that together. There is more that we can do together. I want to defend my championship and I want to win the Indianapolis 500. We can now concentrate exclusively on doing that this year and next year and the year after that as well."
Dixon tested twice for Williams this year and was reckoned impressive enough to be included in most speculation about the Grove team's 2005 driver line-up. The new Ganassi contract may mean the end of Dixon's F1 hopes, but Ganassi has strong relations with Williams: both Alex Zanardi and Juan Pablo Montoya were Ganassi drivers when they moved to Williams.
Ganassi has not revealed the exact terms of the new deal, but Dixon's comments suggest that he should be with the team for at least two more years after 2004.
