Camara to get IndyCar test
Andretti Green Racing Indy Pro Series driver Jaime Camara is to test one of the squad's IndyCar series cars on Friday at Nashville
Camara will be the first Indy Pro Series driver to receive a full-blown IndyCar test as a result of new rules introduced for this season.
The programme, designed to encourage entries in the feeder IPS category, rewards teams that run in both categories by allowing the IndyCar team to test an extra day after every three IPS races, up to a maximum of six extra days for a two-car effort.
Camara will split time with Tony Kanaan in his car at Nashville, a circuit where Camara won the IPS race last season. Andretti Green rookie Marco Andretti will also take part in the test session.
"It's going to be another step in my career," Camara said. "It's always been the goal - the IndyCar Series. Achieving that is a big step for me. I hope I can do a good job.
"At the end, if the team is satisfied with my performance, I think that's a very good point in my favour for something for next year."
Camara's IPS teammate Jonathan Klein will also get a future test in an AGR IndyCar as part of the programme.
