Bernoldi eager for road course return

Former grand prix driver Enrique Bernoldi is looking forward to the first IndyCar race on a road course since April at Watkins Glen this weekend

The Brazilian finished fifth at St Petersburg, and then fourth in the Champ Car finale at Long Beach later that month, but has struggled so far on ovals with a best result of 15th coming in the Indianapolis 500.

But with six of the remaining nine rounds of the season on road courses, he is confident of a strong end to the year with Conquest Racing.

"Finally, a road course!" he said. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy to be turning right as well as left this weekend.

"I've struggled with the last few ovals, and coming to a familiar racing environment will hopefully help me to get back on track. The circuit will be new to me, but my road racing experience and the team's experience on this type of track with serve us well this weekend.

"I expect to be running up front and to be competitive all weekend so I'm really hoping to come away with a good result. We had a good showing on the street courses in St Pete and Long Beach and I think our performance on the (remaining) road courses will be similar."
