Rahal to contest full 2011 season

Graham Rahal has announced that he has secured the funding for a full season in the IndyCar Series in 2011, though he has not yet revealed which team he will be driving for

The 21-year-old American will be sponsored by the TBC Retail Group next year, advertising a variety of its tyre and automotive brands during the course of the season.

"This is a great statement about IndyCar racing, and hopefully the fans are excited about it," said Rahal. "I am extremely proud to represent Service Central on the track and to serve as a spokesman for the company's brands in the years to come."

Rahal appeared with four different teams over the course of the 2010 campaign, having lost his Newman/Haas drive due to a funding shortfall over the winter.

He had a handful of outings with Sarah Fisher Racing, then contested the Indianapolis 500 with his father Bobby's Rahal Letterman team - which revived its IndyCar programme as a one-off to ensure the younger Rahal made it to the championship's biggest event.

Rahal was also one of the variety of drivers that Dreyer & Reinbold called on to substitute for the injured Mike Conway, and eventually returned to Newman/Haas for the majority of the second half of the season after securing new backing.

Speculation has linked Rahal to a Panther Racing seat for 2011, a possible third Ganassi entry, or a full-time return for Rahal Letterman.

Bob Crostarosa, TBC's senior vice president of marketing and advertising, said no decision had no made yet on which team would sign Rahal and carry its colours.

"Together with Graham, we look forward to finalising and announcing the IndyCar team component of this programme in the near future," said Crostarosa. "We are looking for teams that run up front."
