Dario Franchitti leads Ganassi one-two in first Toronto IndyCar practice

Dario Franchitti opened this weekend's IndyCar round in Toronto by ceading a Ganassi one-two in the first practice session

Franchitti moved to the top of the screens with 25 minutes remaining in the session and his best time of 1m00.8972s was never bettered, although team-mate Scott Dixon fell just 0.0443 seconds short.

Schmidt Hamilton rookie Simon Pagenaud was third-fastest ahead of KV Racing Technology's Tony Kanaan and Penske's Will Power.

The session finished 10 minutes later than scheduled due to an extended stoppage triggered by a pitlane accident involving Dale Coyne's Justin Wilson and Dragon Racing's Sebastien Bourdais that resulted in several crew members from both teams needing medical attention.

Josef Newgarden (Sarah Fisher Hartman) was also responsible for a red flag when his car encountered mechanical problems and came to a stop, and there was a third stoppage later on when Alex Tagliani (BHA) spun at Turn 8, and Wilson hit the tyre barriers while trying to avoid the Canadian.
