Minassian reunited with 2011 Peugeot 908 for pilot Masters Spa race

Nicolas Minassian will be reunited with a 2011 Peugeot 908 LMP1 turbodiesel in the Masters Endurance Legends pilot race at Spa next month

Minassian reunited with 2011 Peugeot 908 for pilot Masters Spa race

The Frenchman, who raced for Peugeot throughout the five seasons of its P1 programme from 2007, will drive a V8-powered second-generation 908 in the event for LMP and GT machinery built between 2000 and 2011.

He will share the car, which will be run by Group C and GTP specialist Chamberlain-Synergy Motorsport, with Mercedes C11 Group C regular Kriton Lendoudis in the one-hour race September 17.

Minassian, who is also director of the new series, told Autosport: "I can't believe I'm going to drive that car again.

"I'm so excited about it; I'm even going to get my old Peugeot overalls out of the cupboard to wear.

"I know how great these beautiful cars are to drive, so it's wonderful that they are coming back for people to enjoy again."

He stressed, however, that because he is series director the Peugeot will be given a time penalty during its pitstop.

The Peugeot is one of multiple Peugeot LMP1 turbodiesels, including earlier V12-engined 908 HDi FAPs, that have been purchased from the factory by a consortium led by Chamberlain-Synergy boss Bob Berridge.

His team will run them under the Peugeot Sport Classique by Chamberlain Synergy banner.

Berridge said: "We have full technical support to run these cars.

"They did 36-hour tests flat-out, so running them for two or three seasons without a rebuild won't be an issues.

"We have bought a full complement of spares and have had to take a warehouse to put them in."

The pilot race at Spa will lead into a full schedule of races on the Masters Historic Racing bill in 2018.
