HSCC preparing to hold first 2020 UK historics event at Brands Hatch Super Prix

The Historic Sports Car Club is preparing to resume race events following the coronavirus pandemic delay with the Legends of Brands Hatch Super Prix meeting on 11-12 July

Subject to government guidelines and approval from Motorsport UK, the HSCC is now working towards running a full weekend of racing at the event.

If it goes ahead, it will be the first UK historic race meeting of the 2020 season.

HSCC CEO Andy Dee-Crowne said: "Running an event takes a lot of preparation so we are currently planning for the resumption of motorsport in July.

"Of course, this is entirely dependent upon instructions from both the government and Motorsport UK and the HSCC will fully comply with all such directives."

Dee-Crowne said that changes will need to be made to meet guidelines and maintain social distancing measures.

"There will be changes in how we operate events due to COVID-19," he explained.

"Changes may include things like electronic signing-on, electronic licence checking, how marshalling operates and the use of PPE for marshals and officials.

"We will all have a duty to ensure that when events do start, they are run as safely as possible."

The weekend timetable is being re-planned to try and sure as many competitors as possible only have to turn up on one of the two days due to potential difficulties with accommodation.

In line with the COVID co-operation plan previously announced between the HSCC, Masters Historic Racing and French-based HVM Racing, an invitation is open for any competitors with suitable cars to take part in the event.

"We are delighted to open this race meeting up to Masters and HVM competitors with suitable cars," said Dee-Crowne.

"With the Masters European calendar not due to start until the Silverstone Classic three weeks later, this will be an ideal season-opener."
