Historic F2 added to HSCC opening meeting at Brands Hatch

Two races for Historic Formula 2 cars have been added to the opening Historic Sports Car Club meeting of the revised season at Brands Hatch on 11/12 July

The HSCC says that the response shows a clear appetite among the historic racing fraternity to get back the sport up and running again and the Club has already taken more than 230 entries for the event around the GP circuit.

The high-profile Historic F2 schedule has been badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the first five of seven events postponed or cancelled, including the Silverstone Classic races planned for August 1/2.

The F2 pack was due to race on the Brands Hatch GP track at the end of May, but two races have now been added to the 11/12 July meeting and entries are coming in fast.

The event will be run in accordance with all government and Motorsport UK rules and guidelines and changes will, inevitably, be made to how the event is operated to ensure the maintenance of social distancing and the well-being of everyone present.

HSCC CEO Andy Dee-Crowne said: "Of course, this event is entirely dependent upon instructions from both the government and Motorsport UK.

"However, the signs are looking increasingly positive as we start to emerge from the pandemic.

"What is very clear, is that there is a great appetite among our members to get racing again and it looks like we are heading for a bumper entry.

"There are a number of operational questions currently being addressed and we will give competitors further updates in the build-up to the event.

"The weekend timetable is being re-worked to make it a one-day event for as many competitors as possible."
